The working parents’ Valentine

Posted February 13, 2015

Conferences can be so energizing. Returning from them can be demoralizing, esp as a working parent. Taking a little too much time in the Orlando sun, I flew out of my hotel room leaving my jacket behind. I ran into the house to warm up, dropped my bags at the door, put on all the fleece I owned, and fell down dead into bed.

Today, I pulled myself out of bed, a bit bitter about it, and scrambled to get Jonah dressed and out of the door with lunch, permission slips, and valentines to exchange. Which left me with this tornado of a home. It looks like we were robbed, but the only thing that’s gone is the warm feeling I had in the Orlando sun.

This year, my valentine reads:

Roses are red, violets are blue, my home is a hot mess, but there’s only so much I can do.

Sign Sealed Delivered (and sitting on my counter top)

Melt+with+You+(and+the+puddle+of+snow+on+my+floor)
I’ll Stop the World and Melt with You (like the snow melting off these boots and on to my floor).

Ain't+no+Mountain+High+Enough+(to+see+over+this+pile+of+stuff)
Ain’t no Mountain High Enough (to help me see over this pile of stuff)
